1.Taking the same vows. If you still have a copy of the
vows you and your partner   took the first time, you can repeat the
same vows at the renewal. This allows you both to contemplate
how you have lived up to those vows and to recommit to the words
that meant so much to you the first time.

              2. Taking the same vows, with new additions. Some
couples decide that while the power of the original vows is
something they want to hold on to, they would also like to add new
sections that acknowledge the experiences and the triumphs they
have had together. This option allows for a blending of the past
and the present.

              3. Scripting completely new vows. Some couples decide
that the vow renewal should reflect their current beliefs or
spirituality. Perhaps you no longer attend the same church as you
did when you married the first time. Or perhaps your original vows
were civil vows, and now you would like to create something new
with your partner. This option allows for you to recreate and to
redefine your promises to each other.

Another idea to consider when planning a vow renewal is the
inclusion of family. Often, partners decide to include children or
other close family as part of the vow renewal, acknowledging the
role of their union in the lives of others. Make sure you ask
beforehand so people don't feel awkward, but most of your family
and close friends will be honored to mark the occasion with you in
a personal and active role.

Vow renewals are growing in popularity. Tom and Katie renewed their vows at the big
Italian celebration, having wed secretly in a civil ceremony the week before.

In choosing to renew your vows, you and your partner have many options. A few are
